Prompt Response: This conversation makes me think that there is validity to Troy’s claim and how we still have it in this generation, just more subtly. As when we apply for jobs, our names and the race option choice that we pick out makes job employers easily discriminate against minorities. As online, someone had admitted that when they clicked the “white” option on the job application, they were able to have a job interview with less hastle. If I was in Troy’s position I would have to be my own Boss and be welcoming to those of any ethic background. As the reason why the U.S. is very popular and successful is because it’s a melting pot of different people with great ideas. As long as I have a good product to sell with reliable employees by my side, then my business would be booming.

Summary: In class, the rest of the students who hadn’t presented, presented their projects in class today. 

Reflection: After presentations, it made me realize that we should put more effort in the appearance of our slideshows, as Mr. Rease commented that they look sloppily made last minute.

Prompt Response: A part of my identity that "travels" with me wherever I go is the language of my culture. Whenever I go out, I can switch between languages to my necessity. I can translate something to my mother from English to Spanish. I can speak to Spanish speakers in their language and ask questions. But Spanish is especially important to me, as it can allow me to talk to my family members. For example, my grandmother cannot speak English. So, I like that I am able to communicate with her in phone calls about my day, what I'm doing, and ask her questions about what's happening in her life.
