Prompt: With 4.5-week grades posting on September 2, reflect on your experience in AP Language so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

Prompt Response: My experience with Multicultural Lit has been very insightful. It helped me see different perspectives from people in different places and their hardships. Something challenging is that I struggle with answering difficult, deep questions. As I know the answer, I just can't write it well into my responses. I will need to improve this moving forward by giving clarity and being precise.

Summary: In class, we were assigned to do cultural identity masks.

Reflection: I referenced my culture by drawing Día de los Muertos makeup on my mask.

Prompt Response: A part of my identity that "travels" with me wherever I go is the language of my culture. Whenever I go out, I can switch between languages to my necessity. I can translate something to my mother from English to Spanish. I can speak to Spanish speakers in their language and ask questions. But Spanish is especially important to me, as it can allow me to talk to my family members. For example, my grandmother cannot speak English. So, I like that I am able to communicate with her in phone calls about my day, what I'm doing, and ask her questions about what's happening in her life. Prompt Response: The conflict that stood out to me the most was between Cory and Troy. As Troy and Cory both had similar wants. Troy wanted to play baseball and play in the major leagues. While Cory wanted to play football and have a successful future. But, due to Troy’s bitterness, Cory could never fulfill his dream because his father sabotaged his future.
